My two sons got me involved with golf about 2 years ago. It wasn't until last year that I decided to really work at improving. So I saved my money and bought a set of Adams A4r irons from eBay this past September. I'd stay out until after dark working on my swing, go inside to watch YouTube instruction, then go back outside under the flood lights to try and execute what I'd had just watched. I ended up taking some lessons from a pro.

In October, a local golf course was offering $100 membership that would carry the rest of 2012 and the entire 2013 season so I jumped on it. As it turned out, we didn't get much snow last year. In mid-November I was able to go deer hunting in the morning and golfing in the afternoon. My wife was ready to have me committed.

I just want to say that this site is very cool. Golf is the hardest sport I've ever played and I suck pretty bad at it. I could always hold my own in sports like baseball, football and tennis. This game is far more difficult. But it's also one of the very few that I can play by myself and get a completely unbiased result on how well or poorly I performed. I may spend most of the afternoon trying to figure out why I can't control the ball flight and all of the sudden, hit a beautiful drive right down the center of the fairway or a high approach shot that lands softly a couple feet from the flag. That's what keeps us coming back. Because of a site like The Sand Trap where the members and staff are generous enough to share their knowledge, I have a fighting chance of becoming an average golfer.
