So I'm curious about this. If the ball stays in the same place do you have to shorten the width of your stance for higher lofted clubs? Just thinking about this it seem like my stance for a wedge would need to be very narrow to pull this off. Maybe a balance issue?

I believe your stance with a wedge should be narrower than for your driver or 3-iron or whatever, yes. Some people like to always play the ball off the left heel... but as your stance narrows, "just off the left heel" gets closer and closer to center.

Thats a keen observation. I'm Just wondering with this whole playing off the left heel theory would my wedge stance need to be more narrow than I currently stand since im trying to have a downward angle of attack, or does the playing the ball off the left heel change the angle of attack?

i believe trying out new things can be a great advantage, but has the flipside of actually making your golf game worse.... just because you hit decently on the range doesn't necessarily translate the same results on the course. thats the problem with public ranges here in southern california. i have yet the see a grass range, every range in california i've been to, use practice mats. i see people getting good distance but they don't realize that their club bounced off the mat before contact w/ the ball. remember the divots come after contact....
don't be too quick to change your set up, you might just need to work on your swing rather than try to move the ball to accomodate your swing...

curious to this set up... do you find that you pull a few balls often? i seem to do so.

Not to many pulled shots. A little thin sometimes though.

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.

    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
    • Original definition use to or still is how far offline you hit it. It might be better to think of it as consistency in retaining favorable launch conditions to optimize distance.   That heat map showed a gigantic 0-3% loss in ball speed. That is absurd. The true 100% sweet spot is tiny for all clubs. Good luck telling the difference if the sweet spot is under 3% in a sizable area. Especially considering variation in launch angle, spin, and outdoor weather.
