I'm 63 and experience Sciatica pain back issues.

I have taken at least over 50 lessons from Pro's

and 24 lessons at Golf Tec over 3 years.

i am a student of the game and have read numerous books on the subject.

A couple years ago the Cleveland Clinic Hospital sponsored an all day golf and back clinic. Spine Doctors and golf pros from area golf courses were in attendance.

One Pro told the 50 or so folks enrolled that day that the easiest and most effective way to make great ball contact is to setup with your weight foreward. I could not believe a Pro was saying this.

When Spring arrived I tried it!

I want from shooting in the high 90s to low 90s and even shot an 85. I have to tell you I didn't pick up the game until I was 54 years old.

Instead of arguing about theories of golf different swings or athleticism try it out see and see for yourself.  Some of you will be very happy you did!

Cheers!

Mike

In 2001 I sprained my right knee and already had cartalidge damage in it. Being a right handed golfer it was my trail leg. I had to do something similar to the OP.  Most of my weight was forward and I had to go as far as having my right heel off the ground at a dress due to not being able to straighten my leg. That year I hit every club in the bag the farthest I ever have. The following year when I could walk right again I swing normal and my game went in the crapper for the next few years. To this day I haven't really got any of the distance back. I tried it again a little last summer with a little success but then forgot about it again.  But I know I did have alot of weight forward because my right leg just did not function.

Is the OP's idea anything like the Stack & Tilt swing? I also think it would be interesting to get the OP on one of those pressure pad gizmos to see a graphic representation of what actually happens with his weight during his swing.

I have also tried this technique-moving my weight forward. I hit it quite good. At times my divots got a little deep. I think it is a very effective technique for lots of players to try. As I write this I can see myself trying it again. Thanks for the post.

I can see this helping for a while if you are coming in too shallow and inside out. This can get you more "on top" of the ball, but will lead to steep divots. And I don't really know how well it would work with woods. I think it's a band-aid at best.

Great video!

Well, I know I setup with more weight on left foot but maybe I do shift some right.  I have never used a device as shown in the video.

So, I don't know for sure where my weight goes later.  All I can say is that when I setup weight left my balling striking is better.

Looks like Jack Nicklaus sets up left...

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
