If a ball doesnt work for you. Use something bigger like a 2x4. I bought a piece of 6x6 to give me the illusion that I was hitting against a wall. No one wants to hit thier club against a wall... the shanks will pass. Just practice the drill very frequently. Every time I practice I use the wood eventhough my shanks have been gone for several months. It reassures me that impact positions are where they need to be.

Well I'm happy to report that they're gone along with my old swing... My instructor said I had what he called "a good player shank". It was a result of coming to far from the inside, and sliding my hips. That would explain why none of the Internet solutions worked, as they are all designed to stop the over the top move. The funny thing is, I now have a simple feeling golf swing that is more effective. I can't believe how hard I've been making it. Thanks for all the insight... I have to get back to the range :)

I guess I opened myself up for that... I do however carry roughly a 6 handicap. So call it what you want

No harm meant. I had them for years(into last year) It is the one thing that when you have them you don't feel like it is a good player problem. Not making fun at all just noting the toils of something so frustrating yet we are supposed to feel like it is a "good player's" problem. :) The one sure thing to make them go away is great instruction.

No worries cipher... I got great instruction. The strange thing is, I now feel like I have an over the top move. But on video it's down the line, and I still have a baby draw. I was so far inside its insane.

Good to hear. We probably have similar feels then with that. I can feel that the club is straight up in the air at the top and it is not even close. I needed some solid instruction because I was fed up with fearing a shank on every iron shot. My issue with the shanks was mainly because I had a badly cupped left wrist, threw a fishing line from the top, and had major set up/posture issues. No biggie. ;)

I feel ya... It's the worst. Now I just need a few thousand reps with my new swing before I'm ready to play again :(
