I need a new putter

Currently I am using a very old Pete Cooper putter. Most people don't even know who Pete Cooper is and even fewer know he had a brand of golf clubs. The putter is very basic and I love it for that.

This isn't my putter, but it is as close as I could find. Just imagine that club face on both sides, and 55+ years old.

I do a good job putting, but I think a new putter could really help with those close misses.

Here are the ones I have considered so far. Please let me know what you think and anything else I should consider.

i had always been looking for the perfect putter and i really wanted a T.P. Mills...well, i couldnt afford a new one, and had a great opportunity on something close to a "real" Mills...i bought a Mizuno T.P.Mills Workshop IV and it is fanfreakintastic. its more og a mallet style, but man, are those close misses a thing of the past. and distance control has improved tremedously. i am a 88-93 golfer and one of my biggest problems was when hitting my approach from 100yards or further out...i was always on the green, but as far away from the flag while still on the green away....so my first putt too many times still left me with a killer 10'-15' footer...

now my lag putting is amazing and i am on my 5th consecutive "no 3 putt" rounds...

Hey... I can't give advice on the putters, but you're going in the right direction. I was using a similar looking putter for a while; mine was a Patty Berg Wilson. Moving to a newer one - I went to Ping Anser - helped very much. If nothing else, I felt far more confident over it and could hit it farther with less effort (necessary with where I was on greens at the time).

You don't mean Harry Cooper do you?

I've never heard of a golfer named Pete Cooper, but I have heard of one named Harry Cooper; Mr. Cooper was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1992.

Look into some yes putters, or maybe some taylormade putters. Its whichever suits your needs. Im really into the blade putters so i like the Yes Sophia or the Taylormade Rossa Imola 8.

Still, if there ever really was a real golfer named Pete Cooper, it would be nice to find out who he is/was.

getting your new putter is a lot more complicated than you think. to many times people buy into brand names... I am one of those people. My scotty cameron has great feel and performs well but I didnt take the neccessary steps when purchasing the putter. it all comes down to your stroke, I happen to be a straight back straight through putter which does not really mesh well with the vision cameron installs when he creates his putters.

have someone look at your stroke... it will help

Go find some putters that look good to you. Try them all. Ignore the brand. When you find one that you can aim properly, and then putt so it rolls end over end, and finally feels good to you, buy it

i think the putter is the most personal club in the bag. it isn't something you change when a new model comes along, which you do more easily with drivers or irons. putting is al about confidence, pick one which gives you that the most

      Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).

      I always knew it as high but never that distance was 90-95% of rating! That has always played to my advantage. I never have but I could totally vanity cap myself by playing **super** long courses that are otherwise super easy. There was one course like that in LA that I used to play that helped my cap like that. The back tees were close to 7k yards, but otherwise the course was incredibly easy. Wide open, misses almost always had a play at the green from the adjacent hole, flat greens, not challenging green complexes, etc. But it got a high rating because it was so long. So I could swing hard, spray and pray, and score well (relative to my handicap).
