Based on a previous thread about shortening drive shafts I got to thinking about putting on a midsize grip and just choking down on the grip to achieve the same affect. So I pick up a midsize tour velvet today and put it on my driver and I really like the feel - even though my finger length measures supposedly for a standard size grip.

I've put layers of masking tape over the shaft before to increase the size but what about putting a .58 grip on a .600'" shaft? I had a new .58 tour velvet and just put in on a .600" shaft and I really like the feel. In comparing to other clubs. the .58 grip on a .60 butt measures right between my standard grips and the one midsize.

Just wondering if anyone does this on purpose (and not by accident) as a way to increase their grip size? Thanks

This allows you plug in different grip sizes with your shaft butt diameters along with a calculation for tape and Viola...you can get the grip diameter for any situation that you can come across. In the final grip size box you can click on the magnifying glass to get a chart to see where your grips size falls. Anyway, I hope you find it helpful fellow re-grippers!

Since the grips I am using now are .600 I use one wrap of build up and one piece of 2 way. It is close to the .580 on the .600 which used to be a standard offering on player's clubs.

I use Lamkin midsize on my clubs - love them.    Last year used oversize due to right hand finger pain, liked them for a while, but seemed like a bit much.   After playing half a year with them, midsize seems perfect for me
