I did check the archives but could not find anything specific to this model camera and I have ZERO experience in using a video camera for purpose of recording a golf swing. Here is what I know about the camera: Point and Shoot Digital Canon A1100IS.

640 x 480  30FPS.

although according to the "menu" video can be played back in slo mo on the camera itself, but when posting a video, is it possible to view the video in slow motion on the computer?  or is there a free app that I can download before posting? Somebody mentioned VLC player from Videolan.

I do not intend to buy another camera so I wont be needing recommendations on that. Just want to know if this camera will be suitable.

Thank You.

Windows Movie Maker allows you to view videos frame-by-frame. It's a free download and also a useful tool when you want to combine multiple videos into one.

As for the camera, it captures 30 fps. I believe there was already a thread discussing what capture rate you need to eliminate clubhead, shaft, and hand blur. I want to say it was more than 30 fps.

One of the most important things is to be able to control the shutter speed so each frame is not blurry.  Then more frames are better so you can see more positions in the swing.

I was pleasantly surprised that I already have Windows Movie Maker on my computer. Just to see how it works, I sit the camera on a table about 9 yards away from where I was set up. I did not even use a ball as the direction for that shot was in the opposite direction of my hitting cage and does not permit a full swing. I will have to relocate the cage unless I have room from the other side of the yard which I may well have as in the video I took, I did not have the camera zoomed to the widest angle. The quality was pretty good, and the movie maker even allowed me to slow it down to .125 speed. I will go find a cheap tripod.  Not quite ready for public viewing (flip flops, hawaian Shirt e.t.c. don't quite cut it - not for vanity mind you, but to better see what my torso is doing, hip slide (if any) e.t.c.). At least my head looked to be pretty stationary and I was able to view inclination and shoulder turn).  Thank you so much for the tip.
