Just wondering if you instructors use the term "hood" and "shut" to mean the same or different?

I was using my wedges the other day and it seems I could close the face so much that I could either align myself to use the leading edge or top edge and could produce two separate wedge shots.one was like a pitch and run and the other was more like a knockdown.

it felt in one instance the clubface  was "hooded" while the other was "shut"

I can't really answer those questions as I don't often use those words in instruction. I think words, if they have a chance of being misunderstood, should be defined. So you could define "shut" as "closed" and "hooded" as "delofted" and have two different words, or you could define them the same.
