Hey guys just joined the forums. I am 25 and live in West Georgia. Currently a 10 handicap. I used to play some tournament golf and played on my high school team for 3 years. I have been away from golf for some time and have just returned and really miss the competition.

I have asked around and their don't seem to be any local clubs or leagues I could participate in so I am looking into some amateur leagues or "tours" I guess you could call them. Really just want to meet new people and feel that atmosphere again. I am wondering if anyone on here has ever played in or knows someone who was played in any of these "leagues" and could give me any insight into the experience and what I would really be getting myself into as far as costs. Not in it to win or as a platform to get to the next level. Just want to have fun and meet new people and challenge myself.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome. I was in the same situation as you almost exctly last fall, except im 29 and been away a little longer. I have my handicap down to 5 and ticking to zero is the goal. But I would look around at some clubs and see if they have a young adult membership. A lot of clubs in my area offer discounts to those in the 21-40 range to join at 25-40% off. From here play with lots of members and im sure you will find some good compition. Then talk to the club pro once you feel like your ready to compete some amateur golf tournaments for fun. Also lots of clubs have men's leagues one night during week. From there you can get matched with random people and meet some others to play golf with on the weekends. Good luck and welcome back to golf!

Thanks a lot grubby. Not sure why I didn't think of doing that in the first place lol. I will do some research this week and see if I can find something that fits. If you get tired of that R11 btw I will take it off your hands.

Why don't you just walk into the Atlanta Athletic Club or Peachtree and ask about their membership rates?

I'll just walk into AAC and demand a membership and a heavily discounted rate. Should go over like a Led Zeppelin.
