I'm a weekend hacker but the last few times i had been shooting good for my skill level until this last saturday. I found my golf shoes i got years ago but never really wore because i didn't really golf back then and decided to put them on instead of my running shoes and the whole time i was out golfing i never felt comfortable. I'm used to my ball hooking to the right off the tee but it seemed the ball when left right up down every where but where i wanted it. I'm just wondering if you think it was my shoes or am i just making excuses?

ive never heard of golf shoes ruining someones game before, i play the same whether i were spike shoes or not. it was probably a mental thing. i know it sounds pretty crazy but for a while i always played golf without a hat and when i started wearing one i played bad (probably just hit a slump) and from then on everytime i wore a hat i did bad because for some reason i thought i played worse in a hat. finally i just had to tell myself it was ridiculous to think that and it stopped. i guess the moral of the story is not to dwell on any negative thoughts because even if they arent swing related they can still hurt your game.

Golf shoes aren't going to hurt your game. They will help. I find that whenever I do not wear my golf shoes, I lose a couple strokes. My main theory on that is because my swing speed is pretty high causing my pivot foot to slip on my downswing/follow-through.
