Rough around the edges

This is going to probably sound quite dumb but it's just whether anyone else has this on their woods.

I've noticed on my 3 wood that where the face joins the head of the club that it's quite rough and not completely smooth like where the rest of the face joins the head, sole etc. You could say it's possibly a little bit sharp but not enough to cause a cut.

Has anyone else noticed this on clubs or have I damaged it without realising?

Can you post a picture of it? It sounds as if you're hitting the ball high on the face, even off the top of the clubhead sometimes. Do you tend to hit it really high at times?

Theres no ball or sky marks that high up. If I have done that will it cause damage?
