  1. Also posted photos of CG for TM and Miura irons

If you think the center of the club head is the true sweet spot of a golf club, you're mistaken. CG varies with all clubs due to design

  2. @ KIRKOGURI do manufacturers. design sweet spot to be at CG? Depend on target cust ie game improv, players cavity, blade?

  3. @ riche46 club designs are based on initial CG first. The ideal club for each player is the one that matches their swing, along with shaft

  4. @ KIRKOGURI very enlightening. Knew blades 'sweet spot' was closer to heel but thought GI and SGI would be center face. U doing more tests?

  5. @ riche46 now that it's the offseason, I'll have more time for testing and learning. That's why striking the toe on a blade is so weak

  6. @ riche46 that's also where I think the myth of "a shank is close to a perfect swing" came from. We know of course that it is not!!!

That's not surprising. He's also technically not marking the CG, he's marking its projection to the face. :) The true CG is a point in 3D, as you know.

Ah. Thanks for pointing that out. So the z axis location - is it further from the front of the face for GI irons versus "player" irons?

Is it really true that a blade's sweet spot is closer towards the heel?

It typically is, but not always.

The higher the handicap the more likely they are to hit towards the toe, too. Lots of GI irons have the CG projected closer to the toe to compensate.

Thanks, Erik. I notice that my shots are just slightly off-center towards the heel and would get sometimes get frustrated that it's not centered. Now I can relax just a little.

Ryan
