I tied my lowest 18 yesterday with a 90 at Mira Vista (70.0 / 122, 6490 yds.). I shot 42/48, and the 42 is my lowest 9 ever. Great day for me. 5 pars, 8 bogeys, 5 doubles.

I had a career day at

Riverdale Dunes (blue tees - 69.8/125, 6430 yds.) on Saturday. I broke 90 for the very first time with an 88 (44 out / 44 in). More details of my round in the What did you shoot today? thread.

I shot 72 twice. The latest was 6 years ago on vacation in Las Vegas at Desert Pines Golf Club (70.4, 122). It was in the middle of the summer with no one on the course, we had GPS in the cart and played in 2:45 as a twosome. I had 4 birdies that day but bogeyed the last hole by going bold for the birdie in an attempt to get 1 under par 70.

Just want to brag about my son. On June 6 2006 my then 21 year old son shot a 13 under par/59 on a par 72, 6850 yard course. 13 birdies, no bogeys! One amazing round that was witnessed by the club pro and a member who were playing with him! He was the local celebrity for a few days with radio interviews, front page of the newspaper etc. The golf writer for the paper later found out that it was the lowest recorded score in Canada on a championship length course.
Pretty cool eh?

Shot 68 (-4) twice this year in tournaments. 66 (-6) is my low score of all time, and they all came on a course rated 72.2 so not too easy. My low 9 was the 31 (-5) I shot on the front 9 when I shot 66.

    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
