I know putters are a personal feel kind of thing but does anyone have any thoughts on the "Heavy Putter"? Is it a major advance in putting or just another fad? I was wondering if I should just invest in a Scotty someday instead.

It's hard being lefty to even find one to test sometimes. I have to hit a few more stores tomorrow to see if I can find one around here.

There's a review (and lots of comments) at http://thesandtrap.com/equipment/clu..._putter_review

Seems as if people either love it or hate it.

I played around with one, albeit only on a practice green and for me it was just way too heavy. I had a hard time getting the putter head square at impact. However, I know people who swear by it so I guess it's all personal preference.

a good friend of mine picked one up last summer and its a really interesting putter. personally, I feel it to be very useful on muni greens that are very slow... it helped me get the ball to the hole. But the heavy putter is murder on 3-5 ft'ers on slick greens, you just dont need the weight in the club

Isn't the point of it is to play like 10-15-20 rounds with it, get your stroke better, and then get a normal putter?

I doubt it. The putter I use is pretty heavy, but when I pull out the old Bullseye, I can't sink a putt because the speed's all wrong. To get the speed I need on longer putts, my stroke falls apart, and then it's all downhill from there.

I use a 390g putter and its nice on both fast and slow greens as you dont need to "hit" the ball as much IMO.

HATE IT HATE IT.

Worst putter I have ever used in that price range. No feedback, no sightline, no speed control. Might be good if you have the nervous twitches or have alot of bulk.

I don't think so. They don't advertise it as such. What makes a putter "normal" anyways? It certainly seems more normal than some other spaceships I see guys putt with. Also, the thing isn't cheap so if I'm buying one I'd want it to be my putter. Not a few weeks training aid.

I mean't normally weighted, lol. I could never get this anyway, I walk most my rounds, it'd be RIDICULOUS with this thing on my back.

Thanks all. I'm zeroing in on a YES! putter. I don't want any gimmicks.
