Buffalo Bills' Andre Reed, Seattle Seahawks left tackle Walter Jones, Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks, New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan and Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals cornerback Aeneas Williams were the five modern-era selections to enter Canton, Ohio. They were joined by two senior members, punter Ray Guy and defensive end Claude Humphrey. Guy became the first punter to make it into Canton.

I don't know about anyone else, but I feel that Jerome Bettis got the shaft again. There was no more feared running back coming through the line than "The Bus", and at 250 pounds he punished those who tried to tackle him. He is the sixth leading rusher in NFL history, and his stats compared favorably with Marshall Faulk and Curtis Martin, contemporaries of Bettis who are in the HOF. Absolutely disgusting.

In addition to Bettis, I also have an issue with a couple of other players who have never been in the Hall of Fame. I just cannot believe that the Oakland QB, Ken "The Snake" Stabler, hasn't even been considered. He was as fierce a competitor that ever wore a Raider uniform and was named to the NFL 1970's All-Decade Team.  My other issue is omission of Steeler great L.C. Greenwood. The only reason L.C. hasn't been selected is because he played beside Joe Greene. His sacks were comparable to "Mean Joe" and there wasn't a better defender for deflecting QB passes, as witnessed by Super Bowl IX in 1975, Greenwood deflected three passes by the Minnesota Vikings' Fran Tarkenton as Pittsburgh won its first Super Bowl.

If you're top ten in any real category, you should be an almost automatic IN.

I think he'll get in within the next five years though.
