Sure, it's obvious the ball rolls variably given certain conditions (uphill/wet). But carry is effected by the elements as well, mainly wind. I guess my main point was that I get almost the same carry with a lower launch angle driver, but a ton more roll. So, on average (most holes don't play uphill, and I don't play in terribly wet conditions often) I get more total distance - and the potential for some crazy distance (downhill or dry fairway). You and everyone else can sing all day long that it's all about the carry, but I just ain't listening.

Wow, thats a nice attitude.

We're not making it up, the answer is not our opinion but if you have found something that works then that is way more important then gaining some extra yrds. Consistancey wins over distance everytime.

I'm not asking for anyone's help on this issue. I'm just responding to the thread that in my opinion the whole "all about carry" dogma is overrated.

I have a 90 mph swing speed with a driver and I used a 9.5 degree loft, some articles I have been reading suggest that I should use at least an 11 degree driver to maximize distance and carry. I think I hit the ball very high with a driver already..

I have an approx 92-94 mph swing, more of a hitter than a smooth swinger. I recently went from an TM R7 10.5 to a Titleist D1 in 11.5. Brand differences aside, ball flight is not at all that much different to my eye, but the new driver sure is straighter and 10-15 yds longer for me. The straight part is the biggest difference, I can consistently put the ball on the fairway and in good play position. Best change I have made in a while.

Good luck.

I have a high lofted driver because I was hitting my 3 wood as far as my Callaway Big Bertha NINE degree driver. Upping the loft made a big difference. If you already eat your 'roids for breakfast and swing 120 then you can probably play that flat stick driver in your bag. I'm a rank amateur and I'll take all the size, loft, whippiness, forgiveness, juiced balls, shoe wedge, mulligans, gimme's, rule breaking schtuff I can possibley get away with.

And give me my high lofted driver and my strokes and I'll kick your ass all over the course 'yo.
