This is eerily similiar to the stabbing in Hunan China a couple of years back. Same number of kids stabbed I think.

I'm not sure what's going on but when I was in school every single one of us had a pocketknife. It would have been weird to not have one. We used to play games with them on the playground. My dad was a teacher and he was always trading knives with the kids in his classes.

Although we had more than our share of fistfights around the school, and I was in my share of them, I never knew of somebody pulling a knife.

I had a pocket knife in some of my high school years too, and that was in the 90s. They were useful for things like opening taped boxes, tightening loose screws on lab equipment, etc.

Never once considered using it for anything but "being handy" but then again I wasn't ****ed up in the head.

Hell, back in the day we used to have rifles and shotguns in the car so we could scoot out and hunt after school. Some had them in the open, in a gun rack in the back window of a pickup! Half the time one kid would be showing off a new gun to his buddies and a teacher would wander by and join in to comment and admire. It wasn't that long ago.....mid/late 70's. Can you imagine something like that these days? You'd make the national news.....

All I know is that if he had a gun, there wouldn't have been 100% survival.

Prayers for the victims and families.

No, you don't.   You are speculating.   Based on the article, he was able to commit several of the stabbings precisely because he had a knife and could stab people quietly.

Furthermore, while I hope you are right that 100% survive, according to the article, that is not certain at this point.

Prayers for the families affected, and I hope they find some closure to this tragedy.

My wife reminds me when these things happen that school is still the safest place for kids. And teachers.

Yeah, the wife is freaked out about me being a teacher and wacked out kids, but it really is the safest place for us and the kids.

I've been hearing conflicting reports, some say the kid was mercilessly bullied and then the kid's attorney says he and his family were perfectly normal and not troubled.
