I seriously cannot hit my driver to save my life. I'm usually hitting a pull hook or a mean hook however I can hit my 3W like a champ. I think my main problem is that I place the ball aligned with my left heel on drive swings and place the ball closer to center stance for my 3W.

Does anybody have the same issue?

I got a Ping G10 2 years ago and I never could get used to it. I got to a point where the G10 stayed in the bag and my 3W was all I hit off the tee box. I usually hit 250-275 with my 3W so I almost didn't want to get a Driver. But I went and got fit for a driver (Callaway X Hot 9.5* Stiff) and haven't looked back. Here come the guys with the "it's all your swings fault not the club". Which is totally true, but you're a weekend golfer I'm assuming. My point being, it could be the club to an extent (maybe it's not right for you). Go get fit for something new. It might change things. It did for me.

dbrock I think your spot on with the get fitted ... I always under estimated that step ... you would be surprised what you discover.

JoeRobert what happens when you put the ball back in your stance a bit?  Granted I iSuk, but I adjust the ball sometimes during the round based on the flight ... some days I just don't turn the club over as much ...

Henrik Stenson only teed off with his 3wood in the Fedex cup final matches... Of course he won the whole thing...

But the key point is that he he averages about 295-300 yards with his 3wood...

With driver he's a lot over 300+ yards...

I used to have that issue until I started moving the ball farther back into the middle of my stance.  I got to where I could hit my driver straight with more consistency and accuracy than anyone else that I played with.  Recently I bought a RBZ bonded driver with a "stiff" shaft and now I am having to tee the ball up in front of my left foot (completely in front of my body).  When I move the ball where I am supposed to off of my left heel I always have a massive fade.  By moving the ball around in my stance I have much more control over where my drives are going than trying to "fix" my swing.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
