I am wanting to purchase a new set of wedges but I prefer heavier wedges than what I would pull off the rack. How do I go about testing different swing weights in wedges before I custom order them? I'm not sure if I want D3, D4, D5, etc. I am a Ping guy and would love to just go to the fitting centre in Scottsdale, but that isn't going to happen. Any suggestions on this is appreciated.

I use cleveland and last time I checked I think they came as d5 as standard! Wedges are usually heavier anyway so try a few and look up the specs online!

Here are the swing weights for off the rack PING Gorge tour wedges. You'll be able to get a decent idea of what swing weight you want. If the 52 feels a little light and the 56 feels perfect, then you know D4 is the right one for you. I go D6 in my wedges.

47-52- D2

54-56- D4

58-60- D8

Nike V.Forged and V.X3X wedges come with a DG S400 (132 grams) as the stock shaft. V.Forged has 3 different sole grinds, the X3X has 2.

A few years back I tried some Nike wedges with R400 shafts, and really liked the feel. A slightly heavier shaft combined with normal D4-D6 really smoothed out partial swings.

Focus, connect and follow through!

If you're just trying to determine the swingweight you like best, you could actually do some experimenting with any wedges...they wouldn't have to be the model that you are ultimately going to buy.  You could use your current wedges even.

A great way to accomplish this is with lead tape.  It's inexpensive, easy to use, it can be added quickly while at the range to increase swingweight until you get the feel you want. Ha and it can be peeled off without damaging the finish of the club.  It might be possible to find demo wedges in the model you are considering and do the same thing.  It would be ideal if you could experiment with whatever model you have decided on, but really any wedge and some strips of lead tape will help you determine your preference.

It's great to hear that these Nike wedges come with this shaft already so it will be easier to determine the feel with this shaft. I think a combination of demoing this wedge and potentially adding some lead tape may be the answer. Thanks
