Good week to debut a driving iron on tour. Callaway introduced a prototype utility iron to their staff this week at Royal Liverpool. Phil Mickelson, Branden Grace, Ryo Ishikawa, Kristoffer Broberg and Thomas Bjorn were among those testing them on the course. Product details to come in the following weeks, but Callaway "leaked" a couple pics.

Overall design looks similar to the previous utility club, if I had to guess at any changes I would say the CoG is lower, more camber to the sole and a "softer" look at address.

I like the one I got. Its's a lefty version of the one in the picture. The lower lofted ones are also pretty nice. Tested them in the stock KBS shafts too, but hit the heel a lot more. I got this one for less than half price because it was a custom for some baseball player who didn't like the Apex UT 21 degrees KBS C-Taper 130gm shaft he customized. I just changed the grip to a mid-size from the jumbo built up one he needed. I got it because the swing weight is similar to my MP-32 with 130gm shafts. I know I am probably sacrificing distance with these heavy shafts, but I like the way they feel.

The ball flight is nice and high. I like the face. It seems pretty well balanced, and gets me a wider range with my irons for the winter season.
