Love golf but in the cold winters in Ohio my wife and I find wine as a good way to spend time together. Boy that sounds bad doesn't it. Seriously collecting some, having friends over for tasting just a way to spend time together. Was wondering how many other golfers enjoy wine.

My wife and I belong to the Memphis Chapitre of the Chevaliers du Tastevin. I have had a sweet tooth for wine since I tasted a 69 Pommard sometime around 1973. I became a wine lover when I discovered around that same time that that libation could be used to woo women. I particularily love Bordeaux ( though it is now ridiculously expensive ), Burgundian wines, Rhone Valley wines, as well as those from Provence and the Loire Valley. Some years ago, I used to pay attention to some of the wines from Napa and Sonoma. Alas, many of the wines I once enjoyed on a regular basis have increased so much in price, that I now find myself on the very quest about which I made fun: that of finding the lowest price wine wine possesing the greatest quality, a practice of which my father was a master. To all golfers who love wine: con vino lies the swing veritas!

I'm a big lover of the wines. Of course, most of mine are in the $3-$8 /bottle range.

I love wine (mostly only drink Australian wine) and the great thing is that there are a lot of nice golf courses set amongst the wine regions in Australia.

I get several shipped to me monthly and yearly we make 1 to 2 trips to visit to Sonoma to visit wineries and buy the reserves there. One of these days I'd love to visit France and Spain to collect some more.

Great link, thank you.

I have had some lovely wines from Australia, especially from a producer called Penfolds. They can work magic with the Syrah grape, which, I believe you call Shiraz. I'm sorry your country is not closer for sampling both the wine and the golf. And while I generally follow Harry Waugh's dictum, " A wine's first responsibility is to be red," the New Zealand sauvignon blancs can be pretty special. You fellows have it going on in your part of the world!

I do enjoy wines a great deal. One of my favorite table wines is a red from California called Michel Schlumberger, very fruity and great mouth-feel.

For a wine aficionado, my tastes tend toward less complicated. One of my favorite whites is Caymus Conundrum, a relatively off-dry white.

ha, i first tried conundrum at dinner with the wife at Pinehurst.

good to see you on corkd, everado.

penfolds is always a good go-to for me, but really i'm a big fan of a lot of Australian/NZ wines.

here in dc, every november the clydes restaurant group hosts its annual oyster riot, where a number of Australian & NV sauvignon blancs are featured winners of their wine pairings. a great time.

maybe some of you wine drinkers on the east coast should hit up http://www.renaultwinery.com/vinyard.asp outside of atlantic city, nj. first time i've hit a wedge out of a vineyard (let's not tell the marshalls that part of the story).

I enjoy wine. Unfortunately I only have a couple bottles and My wife isnt much of a drinker, she likes wine but drinks about a glass and is done so we done move alot of bottles. I probably move less than a bottle a month so I dont get to try many options. I did no to napa valley a few years back, if anyone is thinking about it GO, it was a lot of fun and they will ship you home wine with free shipping at alot of places. I enjoy ausssie wines as well.

td--you should keep an eye out for half-bottles now. a lot of great winemakers are now bottling some really good wines in the smaller format just for that reason.

my wife and i have also recently taking note of county laws so that we can take an unfinished bottle of wine home with us from a night out so we aren't relegated to the by-the-glass list if it's a bit neglected compared to the real deal....

I love good wine, and I get lots of opportunity to sample really good stuff when we're taking clients out on dinners. Some great top rack standbys like Opus One or Stag's Leap spring to mind, but also (especially on my own nickel) I am really fond of Chilean and Australian wines. Some of my favorites are Concha y Toro's Castillero del Diablo and Penfold's Bin 28 Shiraz. Excellent stuff. Spanish and Washington State wines are also very good values.

If you like Conundrum, I wouldn't sell your ability to discern good wines short. Conundrum is actually a pretty sophisticated blend of grapes developed almost 20 years ago at Caymus and can be quite enjoyable! I like it and when it first came out, it represented one of the best values available in American wines. Even in today's market of bloated wine prices, it's still relatively inexpensive for a good wine.

I love wine, I make a living from it, (sort of) I drink a lot of Canadian wines.

One thing I have learned about wine, is that you never know what your gonna like, I try anything I can get my hands on.

I like the research and study of wine, just about as much as I like drinking it.

    • Day 1: 2/26/2025: So, I'm starting over on this again.  My son brought home the mother of all flu bugs from school. It raged though our house and knocked me on my butt for about 3 days.  Now, that I think I'm clear of the death plague my son gave me. I was able to rise early this morning and get some nice mirror work in. I felt stiff like a board for the first few swings, but loosened up and was able to get at least 20 minutes of first robotic slow swings and then gradually more fluid swings.  My focus was on the timing and fluidity of my priority pieces.
    • I use a MagSafe connector on my tripod. Occasionally I use those clips.
    • Working on some swing videos. What are you guys having the best luck with as far as devices used to record the swing?  I have a tripod with a magnet that I stick my phone on but it is somewhat of a pain because I have to remove the cover on my phone and when I pull it off the magnet the tripod head changes and moves position. I was thinking something more like an ipad maybe. On a different style tripod and maybe even set it up to mirror to a tv.
