I've been Playing Golf for: 20 Years

My current handicap index or average score is: 13

My typical ball flight is: Straight

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: pull slice/slice

Videos:

you can see my miss in the first swing is a pull slice. the rest of the balls had great flights. I need help correcting this miss.

Hi welcome to the site. I would first change this picture at address. Going to feel like the upper part of the left arm is "on top" of the left pec with the arm hanging. When the arm is bent it tends to have the club head "flash" across the ball, resulting in pull slices.

I would also recommend checking out this video and practicing the feels described to change this picture

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my golf swing @mvmac I went to the range this morning to work on your suggestions. Left arm straight seemed simple enough until I started spraying it all over the place. After about 15 balls I realized I had backed away from the ball to straighten my left arm. Once I moved back up where I belong I started hitting it well, some balls even had baby draws and my misses were a lot straighter.

I was playing with my follow through a bit but I truly am a monkey and cant work on more than one or two things at a time (the other being making sure I keep my swing inside out.)  In the follow through photos am I trying to get wrists that are straighter after impact? bend my left knee more? both? I want to make sure when I do start to practice this I am working on the correct thing.

Yes both, your left knee straightens too soon and you aren't able to get the "thrust" into the followthrough. The thrust helps and arms stay straighter and helps the club swing outward more (or less left).

  • 9 months later...

After a long winter it's time to get back after it. I spent quite a bit of time last fall working on the items @mvmac bove. This spring my ball flight is significantly better and much more consistent. After taking these videos today, there doesn't seem to be much of a change in my swing from last summer, and I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed.  It looks like I might be getting a little more extension in my follow through....can anyone confirm? Any drills I can start working to help me?
