Luiten I really can not explain, since how we pronounce 'ui' is not a sound in English.

Looking forward to hearing it get mangled on US broadcasts. CBS should hire Don Cherry for the week.

Sounds something like Lah-ee-ten, with the stress on the first syllable? Yes, I can see the US and UK commentary teams having endless trouble with that...

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

Hmmm, my timing to get you guys more familiar with Luiten might not be perfect. Looking at his schedule it seems that the PGA Championship is his last tournament at the USA in the next couple of months. Hopefully he will shine on the European Tour then (and big hopes on the Ryder Cup).

Golf fans if they're happy to adopt him, will follow him on which ever tour he's playing. What would go down really well, as I'm sure golf fans appreciate this kind of engagement, is if you could set up a little bit of interaction between the forum and Joost. I've got a feeling that as an emerging European he'll be a lot more accessible than some of the remote glitteratzi, and once he's satisfied of the sincereity of your approach and the authenticity of the board, he'll do a little bit now and then. I think you'll be surprised, and since you've already had a chat with his dad you'll be in a better position than anyone to judge that. The bottom line is Joost has something of a wider responsibility to golf and golf in the Netherlands (like or not) and whereas no one is suggesting that PR becomes his focus for one second, provided that he can accommodate the odd little bit here and there without disrupting his preparations he ought to be prepared to consider it

That's true. Next month there will be the Dutch Open, better known as the KLM Open (European Tour) where he will be the title defender. October / November will be the final series of the European Tour, with the biggest tournaments and the biggest purse on tour ending in Dubai. A lot to look forward to.

After two bogey's in a row a disappointing +1 now. His driving accuracy so far is 75%, that seems pretty good. Probably can't follow the rest of his round due to obligations, hope to see some birdies when I come back!

Coming back online to see Luiten scored 4 more birdies. Unfort. just a bogey now on 16 to make him go from T2 (!) to T7. Seems so be a solid round so far though.

Did you pick him in the prediction contest?

    • Day 314 - Putting some things together. Better grip/setup, fuller backswing, better finishing position. Filmed some swings, happy with the progress.
    • Day 130: did a stack session.
    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
