Anyone have any tips on how to reduce glare coming off my cromed irons? Can I take a fine steel wool or something to them? I don't want to hurt the finish so they rust, but on a sunny day I have a headache from looking at the shiny heads all day!

I would be interested in here any suggestions as well.

A few years back Cleveland came out with some irons using their gun metal finish, you may want to take a look at ebay for them.

That was the route I was thinking about going. Guess I will dig up the old dremel and get to work!

I agree. They will lose their shine over time. Chrome has never bothered me, but some people prefer the duller finishes.

A salt and water solution should be able to tarnish the chromium leaving it dull. However, this process might make green residue. On the other hand nickel should be under the chrome so for a pure nickel finish you must use NaOH/ lye in water with a 6V battery connected with cathode at one end of the water solution and anode at the other. Any plating company should be able to do this for you and put a new dull finish pretty easily.
