I know the Braves are not the most difficult team to no-hit, but it's one of the few highlights in an otherwise terrible season for my Phils. Hamels pitched 6 innings, followed up by three relievers - Diekman, Giles and Papelbon - for a combined no-hitter. I really like Ken Giles, he has some filthy stuff. Papelbon gets a ton of flak for being a giant d-bag, but as a relief pitcher, he's one of the best.

I haven't seen the highlights yet... any idea why Hammels got pulled after 6?

His pitch count was getting up there, he had over 100 pitches after 6.

definitely been a tough year to be a phils fan but I'm glad to see that they still haven't given up even though they are on the bottom of the nl east going into the last month of the season.  I cant wait to see what some of our minor leaguers can do when they expand their roster for September.

I am not going to blow smoke up anybody's butt and suggest that the Phillies are any good. But just looking at their respective rosters the Phillies should be way better than the Mets, yet they are 6-13 against them. If they reversed that, they would be 3 games out of the last wild card.

Hamels has stated numerous times that one of his goals in MLB was to pitch a no-hitter. I wonder if this qualifies in his mind? He is definitely one of the best pitchers in MLB and the fact that he could do what he did yesterday with far less than his best stuff is telling.

I like how Hamels had more hits yesterday than 3-7 combined

I do like the Phillies' bullpen going into next year. It's been lights out lately and there are some good young arms in there. The offense is just so damn inconsistent and I don't have a ton of faith that it's going to get much better in the next few years. I hope I'm wrong about that.

100% agree.  the phils have not played up to their ability for the past couple of seasons and it is especially disappointing considering the level of pitching that we have been getting from both our starters and our bullpen.  The phils have made some poor decisions with the contracts that they have signed their veteran hitters to over the past few years and their unwillingness to deal their veterans to replenish the farm system that they depleted to bring in Halladay, Lee, and Oswalt (not complaining about those moves though--that pitching staff was unreal for a couple years)  Unfortunately since the veterans are not playing particularly well so they are not going to have much trade value and the phils will probably be bottom feeders for a few more years until they find some young talent to rebuild the aging core of their team

Hamels is and has been awesome for a long time now.  that change up is a thing of beauty

Another good showing tonight from the pitching staff. They need an infusion of youth in their every day players. Unfortunately, Brown's season last year appears to have been an aberration as I feared.

The powers-that-be took advantage of Montgomery's unfortunate situation and I for one am glad that they finally made the move to put Gillick back in charge. He will shake things up and I expect a lot of action this offseason. It doesn't take much to change the culture of a team anymore, and Gillick has done it multiple times in a HOF career.

    • Day 317: light day after 72 holes in 5 days. Just did some mirror work, working on feels for getting chest and hips more open.
    • I'd be very interested to know what you think about "your swing thought for low point for every club (except driver) is just inside your lead heel". I was working with that for a few weeks before the op and it was working very well, although of course it had an effect on other aspects (mostly faults it exposed) of the swing that then needed to be worked on.
    • Oh, man, sorry to hear that. I'll try to watch the video when I have a minute. Thanks for putting it up there.
    • This may be a first for this thread with someone posting their own video and open to a complete roast? I made the video based on the theory with which we built StanceMate, and the PGA-certified coaches that helped build that theory into a product, so it's time to put it out there. If it's a roasting, so be it! PS: Currently laid up after full shoulder reconstruction so replies may be sporadic and littered with mistakes from one-handed typing.
