What is Cobra equipment like? My pro shop has been recommending them to me, but I also know that the pro wears a lot of their tshirts, so maybe they give him a loada gear. So just worried that he might be just trying to increase his sales.

I bought a set of FP's last year and love them. If you are in the market for irons, give them a fair look.

Cobra is known for their drivers and woods they are good clubs in fact they are part of Titleist and if you look very closly u can probably c some similarities. A lot of the long drive hitters use Cobra drivers and Pinnacle ball which is also part of Titleist. i love titleist for there overall equip. they just know what they are doing

Im pretty good distance wise, im more looking for a club that will give me more control/accuracy and also a lower ball flight. Ive currently got graphite shafts in my clubs and their causing a lot of spin, lifting the ball up.

cobra isn't a bad selection but if you want a pure feel and control club you might want to take a look at Titleists' line of irons, they are forged as supposed to cobra's cast process. ball flight is controlled by your shaft selection, weight and type of shaft. You really don't want to lower your ball flight, you want a boring trajectory. Steel offers control, rifle shafts flatten a ball flight and allow you to control your flight without having to alter to many swing mechanics.

Cobra makes a superb line of clubs: those for the low handicap player as well as for those of us at the higher end of the scale. Their drivers, hybrids, and irons are terrific. I have no experience with their fairway metals, but I would bet the bank they're as good as the rest of their line. Check out their website. You'll find clubs there for almost every level player. As for anyone telling you one manufacturer's clubs are patently better than another, well, you just need to discount that person's advice. Determing what's best for you is something that only you can figure out based on trying different manufacturers' clubs. In any event, Cobra makes a very good product. Good luck to you.

Another vote for Cobra - very solid stuff, love my S9's. While I hit Taylor drivers, others in the family have Cobra drivers and fairway woods and love them. One of the 'can't go wrong' brands out there, IMO.

As you can probably tell, I love Cobra. It's got great distance whilst having great control, and you can use their equipment whatever the handicap. Obviously that's just my opinion because their stuff works best for me, but it's your choice, go out and try their stuff, along with others, and see what you find best, that's how I chose.

Well you have received a lot of endorsements for the Cobras in the last posts. You may be correct in assuming that the Pro could be pushing a brand of clubs over something else especially if he/she is on "staff" with the company. I have a friend on Cobra staff and while she is a teaching pro and doesn't sell, she loves their equipment. Also my brother-in-law just got the whole game improvement set-up and is playing the best he has ever played.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
