Had a lesson lately where my pro got me to use the towel drill to keep connected in my swing. This helped my ball striking but im hooking and pulling all my shots. Any thoughts on why

Tough to say without video but I would make sure there is still separation between the mid bicep and the rib cage. You don't want the entire upper right arm glued to your side. If it is, the rear elbow can lag too far behind the pivot on the downswing increasing the overtaking rate.

In my opinion, it is not the towel, it is your early downswing. Even with the towel, you can still easily make out-in or in-out downswing through manipulation. This book martin recommended will tell you what the problem is:
