The 8th hole on my home course is one of the easiest holes on the course, but it still presents danger from the tee!   Aside from the 800lb gorilla that is visible ........."the ravine", a tee shot towards the left side of the fairway must carry at least 250 to carry the abyss........  For this reason, I typically hit driver and challenge the bunker/right so if I "miss a bit left" ,  at least I have a fighting chance to carry the SHEEIT............the bunker is 250 out to give perspective.....If I hit it in the bunker, I can handle that!!

This was my tee shot line today!!!!..........LOL

My tee-ball wasn't particularly solid, so I hit a provisional......I felt 98%certain my first ball was dead..............

OH YEA!!! A Close call to be sure!!......looking back towards the tee..........LOL

I've played this hole 200+ times, and this is the first time I found my ball "UP" when I had  such serious doubts............LOL I proceeded to wedge to 8ft....and miss the putt!!!

Son of a.......!!!!!!!!!!!

This makes me want to scream!!!!

No pictures BUT on the SI2 Par 4 17th at my club the tee is well back and surrounded by trees and water and about 230-260 yards up on a very narrow fairway is a right angled dog leg right which has water on the left hand side. Anyways I connected beautifully with my drive this one day, straight as an arrow right down the centre line of the fairway BUT just as the ball started its descent it start to veer ever so elegantly to the left TOWARDS the water...then proceeded to hit a red stake, know that out of the ground BUT my ball bounced off 20 odd yards down the fairwary towards the green giving me a great second shot in to the hole :) Regards Mailman

That must have made your day to see the ball still in play when you came up.

Nice shot OP. I know I wouldn't be able to even consider aiming for the left side of the fairway... I don't have the length off the tee to carry the canyon there. I'd have to aim for the right and hope I didn't have the trees on the edge of the right side of the fairway blocking me on my next shot.

Pretty course though. Thanks for the photos!

I don't play golf, I play at golf. There's a difference.

LOTS of close calls for these guys !!!!!!!!!!!

Some even followed us onto the fairways. Not the time to thin a shot.

They are in front mate...probably the safest place to be when around amateur golfers :)

    • Day 4 (24 Jun 26) - Played the mid-week shootout - iffy day on putts as I had 35 and of late been in the upper 20's.   Greens recently verti-cut and they are a bit bump and long haired - no excuses as I need to learn to trust making the proper adjustments.   Overall a decent day with some solid long game shots.

    • Thank you.  I'll cross it off the list since it isn't going to achieve what I want.
    • While it does turn out that both Tiger and Phil are less squeaky clean than I previously believed, I don't think golf quite has the worst in professional sports.  Or maybe they're better at image management.   Obviously I'm not fond of Phil's issue we're discussing in this thread (or his involvement with LIV) or Tiger's choices of how to drive.  I used to really like Dustin Johnson and, even before the LIV situation, we started to hear rumors that he bought more snow than Seward, although I don't think those stories were ever substantiated.  Meanwhile, I did think of Anthony Kim as the "good, bad boy" of the tour for a while fifteen years ago because of his party persona -- and if it turns out the worst he did was show up hung over to play (barring what one thinks of LIV), that's pretty good.  And I'm still happy he found a way to get his life clean. If we contrast that with some other sports I enjoy, I'm sure we could find a nice long list of NFL players that, at one point in my life, I was quite fond of, we get far worse disappointments (to put it mildly).
    • Answering that properly would land me in hot water, so I'm not going to. I don't think that many people would do that. I think that in certain circumstances many people would be willing to overlook someone doing that. But I was really referring to what I assumed was Tiger's transgressions (cheating on his wife) not Phil's.
