hey guys...I was just at the range today practicing when all of a sudden I hear this solid weird sound. I looked behind me and this guy was using his driver. I've read a couple post regarding the Nike Sasquatch square driver having a loud sound and I have also seen a couple guys used the Nike driver. But when I looked over to peek at the guy behind me to see what he was using, It looked like he was using a Callaway driver. I didn't really wanna ask him what he was using since I'm pretty sure like most of us, we don't wanna be disturb when practicing. Was it the FTi driver? I couldnt see the "red" color.

If it was Callaway then it was the FT-i. If not, then there are a lot of squares (Nike, Callaway, Orlimar, Nickent, Ram, etc...) out there now so I couldn't be entirely sure...

Was it a square driver? There are some companies who also in the market for square driver not just limited to Nike and Callaway as supercow has mentioned. However, the only square driver Callaway has is FT-i. If it's not, I'd guess FT-5 or perhaps X460. They're both loud but not like Nike's. Nike's is a total turn off.

I couldn't really tell if it was square but it looked really huge. I'll be on the look out if I see him again...lol sorry to sound like a stalker. Thanks guys

If it were a FT-i/FT-5 you would be able to tell immediately. There are no other drivers on the market that sound like the FT series. They sound like a rock hitting an aluminum bat....but real loud.

When driver shopping, I could hit that Cobra well, but I couldn't get over it's sound. Waaay too loud for me, and it just doesn't sound like a golf club should to my ear.

yup its so weird, they reminded me of that little hammer rubber toys I used to play when I was a kid.

Huh, I love the sound of the big Nike - both times I was at the range there was someone wailing one of those. Sure gets your attention.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
