Who is a top player that uses one? I know Bernard Langer does or used to. These putters just seem odd to me. Do any of you guys use one?
Or evena belly putter for that matter? Please do chime in on your experiences.

I saw Nick O'Hern using one in the Presidents Cup and Vijay uses or used one on occasion. I'm sure there are a few others.

I used a belly putter for roughly 1 years worth of golf. I found it to be a lot more helpfull on really long putts, 40+ ft and really short putts, say 2-4 ft. Contrary to what most people will say i had good tough with it on long putts, most say its harder to judge. I got rid of it because i was putting very poorly with it at the strat of this year. I will probably never go back for a long time.

Stewart Cink is a good putter and has a belly putter. Vijay maybe when he uses one?

I think any putter that you "attach" to your body should be illegal. It's adding an artificial pivot point. Hold club in hands, swing club, that's the tradition of the sport. It'd be like adding a string to your driver handle to keep you from swinging over the top, or something. I think it's tantamount to cheating and I'll never use one. JMHO.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

I think using a Driver with a head the size of a bowling ball should be Illegal too.

If you think it is such an advantage maybe you should try playing with it. Its no easier than a normal short putter, it just takes some getting used to. Personally I love my long putter, I had waaay to much wrist's in my normal putter swing, and while I am trying to improve, I was killing my game, this club took my wrists out of it.

Been using a long putter for over two years. I make waaaay more putts from ten feet in. My problem with the short putter was nervous hands. I couldn't take the short putter straight back and follow straight through. Weird I know as I had used one to that point for forty years. Since going to the long putter I now can make a nice easy pendulum stroke, see the line, and make a smooth stroke. I enjoy putting again and I can practice longer cuz it doesn't stress my back at all. Cheers, John L

It is interesting to note the change in the number of really good players using a long or belly putter since this thread started. There was a period after Bruce Litzke quit playing well when there really weren't any top players outside the senior tours using a long putter. Now there are several. I attribute it in part to players going to it at a much younger age, Keegan Bradley for example. There is still not a player I would say is an elite putter using one but the gap is much smaller.

    • Day 79 (19 July 25) - Band rehearsal this morning - got home midafternoon, opted to work more with the magnetic alignment tool with the wedges.  Used it to work on face position at the bottom of the swing arc - followed up with easy pitches up to 50yds.  Seeing better face control and over improved accuracy toward target…session was cut short with pop up rain showers.
    • This is a great discussion. Other parts of the course where there are houses have white stakes and signs. This keeps people from trespassing and hitting shots on their property. There is another county road on the east side of the course that does not have white stakes like the hole I described. I checked the score card and there is nothing to indicate these roadways are OB. I think a county drainage ditch would be considered government right-of-way so it is the peoples land 🤣. But you are in the power industry and know more about those sorts of things than me.
    • Day 3: Worked on backswing. Feel: Matt Wolff, Real: Not yanking it inside and getting it laid off and flat at the top.
    • I wrote the post before leaders tee'd off today (3rd round) when Schef was still tied with Fitz at -10. Also, if you read further I also said 'one man' will most probably put the championship to sleep by end of today..😊. Yeah, not much drama left it seems. Scheffler with a hot putter is out right frustrating for the field. I will still watch tomorrow because the course is awesome and the play is pretty exciting in general. Players reaching deep to hang on.
