How about a windows app for this? Or is everyone supposed to have Apple products?

Door number two.

Last year I would have said High Speed Camera first, but GDaddy is absolutely right, unless you're working on some really fine grade pieces regular 60fps  is fine as long as you can slow it down with Anaylzer or even just some basic movie editing software that probably came free with your computer.

I got an iphone 4s... 30 fps... no good IMO. I lose a lot of detail between the frames just before and after impact.

1) Irons - do yourself a favor - get fit for a nice set. Try them all.

2) Bag - Datrek makes a 14 slot lightweight bag that fits nicely on a

3) lightweight Clicgear cart.

4) Bushnell Z6 Jolt or Leupold equivalent.

5) I have a Galaxy S5 that takes nice vids at 120 fps and has a steady cam setting. My first vid was taken on a Nokia.

6) If you have money left over you make a lot more than I do.

Yikes!!! 120 fps!? Had I known, I woulda made the switch at my last upgrade.

Another vote for skipping the golf gadgets, especially if you're going to get a camera. If you wanted to really analyze your swing and you have a Mac, get Analyzr

http://analyzrgolf.com/

Don't have a Mac :( and not buying one in the near future... We have an Ipad though... is there an app for that?

Additional use for rangefinder = charting partial wedges. If you're a bit of a mechanic on your swing, the rangefinder can be very useful in charting your matrix for partial wedge shots.

Take a half-dozen of the model of balls you play on the course. Go to an area of the practice range where you can use your own balls, , and find your average distance on quarter, half, 3/4 and full wedge shots for different wedges. Use your bag beside the hitting area as a known point, and shoot back to the bag to get your yardage on each shot.

If you find an unusual distance gap two days in a row, you might need to increase or decrease the loft of one or more wedges.

Thanks for the tip

Irons it is... I like the way @Ernest Jones refers to them as "sparkly"... lol. As far as getting fitted... u guys think a stock fitting will suffice at a Golfsmith or PGA Tour Store? Or should I find a fitting specialist?

Gadgets/Gizmos... are off the list, thanks for the unanimous feed back everyone

I'll probably get the rangefinder next, then either the push cart (not pull lol) or the lightweight bag when spring rolls around.

I actually pulled the trigger on a camera last night, as I found one with the holy grail feature of a manually adjustable shutterspeed. The fps is pretty good too. I thought it necessary in light of my 30 fps iphone... it will be good for evolvr or if I take lessons, the instructor I have in mind uses a really crummy video camera so I figured it can't hurt to have one of my own.

I really appreciate everyone taking some time to chime in.

I'd go to a brick and mortar golf shop where they have fitting stations for your irons. That way you can try out different shafts as well. Some of them have a pro on staff, unless they're Dick's (used to have a pros on staff and then fired them). In my opinion, it's worth getting properly fit. There's static measurments and dynamic measurements. Now is the time of year to go. They still have some of last year's models in stock... even if they have to order for you. You can save a bundle. Sure the new models are dipped in lyrium and polished up all nice and sparkly compared to the now fading light on last year's models, but that doesn't mean last year's models aren't any good anymore. You might get another two yards/club with this year's model for another $300-500 set.

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
    • Day 151 1-11 flow work today. I've been doing all pause work, so Inwanted to get some rhythm going. Recorded.
    • a) No b) This MLR says: I doubt the MLR is going to affect their weekly league games, in other words.
    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
    • Original definition use to or still is how far offline you hit it. It might be better to think of it as consistency in retaining favorable launch conditions to optimize distance.   That heat map showed a gigantic 0-3% loss in ball speed. That is absurd. The true 100% sweet spot is tiny for all clubs. Good luck telling the difference if the sweet spot is under 3% in a sizable area. Especially considering variation in launch angle, spin, and outdoor weather.
