You could always do your membership this year and then look into the mens club next year.  The only reason I haven't joined the men's club at my course is due to my schedule.  I have a daughter that plays soccer and I coach her team so my Saturday mornings aren't free for another year.  Even not being in the mens club I have met quite a few of the members.  The guy's in the clubhouse are pretty good about pairing me up with others.

I don't have a walking only but I could walk anytime if I wanted.  Several people walk but I usually ride since I play a lot with my older 15 year old daughter so I let her drive the cart for driving lessons.  Not quite the same as letting her drive the car on the road but it helps to build her confidence and I do let her drive the car to and from the course.

When I played in my work league, there were several guy's who were just starting out.  It wasn't an issue at all.  We had all levels of play and I found it to be enjoyable.  I will say that every course is different.  If you play there this summer you'll figure out if its one that you want to continue to be a member and if you should join the men's league.

I will talk with the course pro about the men's league and feel him out. I think it would be fun but want to make sure not to get into a situation that is tense for everyone. One other concern I have is being a newbie my handicap index will fluxuate and I don't want to get into the drama of being called a sandbagger if I actually put together a decent round. I have looked and could even just look at using 80% of my index or something like that.

Driver: Taylormade RBZ :tmade: Irons: Titleist AP1 :titleist: PW-4 All other clubs are needing upgrading as I am able to afford it.

I wouldn't worry about that. If people see you play and you legitimately have a range that goes up and down they'll understand. Everyone has a good day where they beat it and everyone has days they blow up. I started as a 21 when I got mine established. And it fell over a year where it couldn't keep up as I got to know the course. I stabilized around an 11 and been there for 3 years. But I would go up and down 2-3 shots within a month with a good round or some real stinkers.

Here's my two cents- Hone your skills on the par three course and the range. Play the regular course on quiet times. Best of both worlds without feeling like you're under scrutiny.
