First, I apologize if this has been asked and discussed over and over.  I haven't been here in way too long, and I feel like I'm just starting out again.

Anyway, I use a 3 wood off the tee a lot.  In fact, because I can control it so much better and I don't lose a ton of distance, I use it almost exclusively.  In my bag right now I have a Callaway XHot 3 wood.  Has anyone seen anything in the last year or so that would make you say, "Man, you REALLY need to check this one out!"?   Thanks in advance.

. As long as it still sends the ball down the fairway for you in a decent manner, I'd say no. Maybe check the grip out, the club face, and look for excessive wear and tear down around the hosel connection is about all I would do.

It just depends on how you mesh with a given club. I'd say try some other 3Ws at the spring golf expos.

I liked the XHot FWs when they cameout, but did not buy. They got good reviews. A pro I know told me that if you find a FW that works, keep it until something really better comes along.

You might try the Tour Edge Exotics. A bit pricy if you buy them new, but shops that fit for TE often have some used ones, or last year's model. Exotics are quite popular among better amateurs in the Midwest.

In its better FWs and hybrids, TE has the Exotics and the Exotics XRails. I have played an XRail 4W and 7W for two seasons with good results. If I could break 90 regularly, I would probably upgrade to the Exotics.

On the PGA Tour, Kuchar and Snedeker played a TE fairway wood a couple of seasons back. The Tour Edge company blog mentions a head count for the Senior and Web.com tours, but doesn't mention any names. (TE needs to enhance its blog).
