You can re-myelinate while swinging slowly or "mapping."

Just gotta make yourself do it. July is a good deadline. Let's get it done!

Got in 6 rounds in 5 days at MB Barefoot. Really enjoyed the complex. Grades:

Driver: D- (Except for day 1 at huge fairways of Farmstead- only non Barefoot course we played) it was terrible. Had a 100 swing thoughts and couldn't stick with one.

Irons: A . Struck them well and got better with best on the last day. Had only two bad misses all day. Came through with some clutch shots. On the last day at the Dye course (tightest of the all the Barefoot courses) I chucked the driver all together and drove all the short holes with my 4-iron and did well.

Pithing B- Not terrible.. but had trouble with clean hits on rain soaked sloppy surfaces. Workable though.

Chipping B- Nothing to write home about but also not terrible.. had a couple of complete duffs but got on the green for two putts most times.

Putting C- Welp, my love affair with poor greens pace continued. They received a massive amount of rain on Sunday and I could never get myself to hit the ball hard enough.

All in all game is in a better place than a month ago. Shot in the 80s all 5 days which I haven't done in a well over year.

😊.. Need to find solid feel that I can sustain. Drove great day 1 and then it disappeared.

But yeah, back to working on it.

Trying to not let right arm/wrist get bendy-hingy. Feels like a half swing and flat like a m..

Thank @iacas. Yes I will get the tilt back into it. Have been setting only driver square (irons still hooded, albeit less) so the palmy grip (yes, true) is a mental crutch till I get a bit more confidence. Keeping the left arm super soft and lightly resting on the grip to not stress the forearm injury (works fine I think).

Bit more tilt. Suitcase hold for more hand depth. Soft arms, elbows, chest, lats, full turn and go.

So you're just giving up entirely on the width stuff? 😉

I messaged you a picture.

Stop worrying about depth. Get the right elbow off your ribs and (not rigid) but "straight" feeling.

Need to find a consistent feel to sustain this picture. As of now it is 'keep right arm straight' as long as possible.

Trying to ensure club is 'radiating' away from core, wrists not loading, and straight right arm feel. Everything still soft.

I know the trail hand grip is a bit palmy but not worrying about it much. I think allows me to chicken wing at impact to keep by lead forearm from being stressed. Again, hopefully not a big deal.

That's good. Time to start doing it and checking it at game speed.

    • Day 147: more mirror work. Trying to hone in the backswing stuff real nice.
    • If I was going to try to help someone fix a low snap hook without actually seeing their swing I would have to tell them to break down the problem into pieces. See if you can fix the "low" part of the problem first. A low ball flight tells me you are probably swinging level or hitting down on the ball instead of hitting up on it. Try teeing the ball higher than you are comfortable and put the ball up in your stance a little further up than comfortable...try putting it off your left heal or even the left toe. Try to feel like your club head is swinging up through impact. Try that first and see if it gets you to a high snap hook or a high pull hook.    If you want to address the hook part of the swing you are going to have to look at two areas of the swing as well as your concept of what the arms and hands do through impact. I love talking through this stuff with people but I'll only go into it further if you really want to go down that rabbit hole...you would have to say so. Swing well my friend!
    • Hello everyone! I haven't been on a golf forum in many years...since the old 4gea days if I remember right. Love to talk swing mechanics and hope to meet up for some range time and golf with others if possible. Been in Houston for a year now but haven't managed my way out on the course anywhere. I hope to change that in 2025. Hit 'em hard everybody!
    • Day 6: Worked with 6-iron, same stuff; neutral grip, centered turn. Feeling a bit lost right now, but have a lesson booked in about 10 days.
    • Day 222 (11 Dec 24) - weather came in about midday….son had an ortho appt mid morning….able to get in some work with the 54 and varied pitches. Used the tulip tree as the obstacle to clear….was able to work the face - normal face with the longer distances to more open with the tight short straight up and downs.
