Recently I was rewaxing leather and canvas items in my home shop. One rain hat had gotten auto grease on it when it got "loaned" to a relative. It is woven canvas, much like the woven material of many bags. Dirt and debris, or in the case of the hat, grease, can get in the pores of the weave. I was told about GoJo as a strong but relatively gentle cleaner, but the variant I had on my shop bench had pumice in it. I thought the fine pumice might assist cleaning out the pore of the weave on the hat and did it ever! I knew it was capable of abrasion, so I went easy with a old golf towel. The results were so good I took it to an old White golf bag I had gotten for my wife years ago. Amazing. Wash it off with water, let it dry and then spray it with water repellant or scotch gard and go play!

I have used that GoJo stuff to clean fabrics, and even metal surface before. Stuff works great. I have just never thought to use it on my golf bag, so thanks for the tip. I have found that it removes the oily finger/thumb stain on the bill of my hat/cap quite well.

There is another method of cleaning your bag that seems to work well. I don't recommend it however. What you do is on your way to the golf course you put your bag in the bed of your truck. While driving to the course you see a sign that reads "Grand Opening-Free Car Wash". You pull in get your vehicle washed. The fact that you forgot your bag of clubs was in the bed of your truck while riding through the car wash will soon be remembered when you get to the golf course. Yes, I have done this. Not once, but twice. It even works when you golf partner for the day has his clubs back there too. I call it having a temporary case of "Bag Yips". Surprisingly after both instances, I played quite well, considering.

Haven't tried Go Jo to clean a golf bag but I did find it will take the black marks that I get around my pocket areas from getting in and out of a cart off my pants/shorts.   I need to give my golf bag a good cleaning this year, so I will keep this in mind..
