How many rounds does it take to get back to pre-winter form?

Thanks for all of the comments.  I think around 10 rounds is probably my numbers.  I'm usually back to 'normal' after about 5-6 weeks of a couple of times a week.  And, like many of you said, a couple of additional days/hours on the range.

I just was curious as to whether or not us snow guys all have the same challenges.

It's more than just rounds. It's remembering where you left off, and reviewing lessons notes. Review the notes, and practice those specific things at the range.

To get going again, I really need a two-week period in late March when I can pick up a club several times to practice and play. If I don't get "zeroed in" during those two weeks in late spring, the golf season starts slowly.

Part of this involves getting my swing muscles back in shape. Having two weeks in late March really helps this, or else it takes until mid-summer to really feel sharp.

It's been four years since I had the March blitz, and that was the last season when I had some rounds in the 80s.

Well, I am very new to this game and this is actually my first off season. My plan has been (and still is during the dreadful winter in Sweden) to play a indoor simulator every second week during the winter and as soon as the driving range opens (I guess that wil be open 3-4 weeks before my home course), I will be trying to hit the range appr 3-4 per week until the course opens. I will probably still play badly on the course, but at least I should not be completely off.

The options for simulator golf in my neck of the woods on Long Island are pretty scant, but I was excited to see there's some relief coming:

Hopefully this will be the last winter of having to hit up the demo bays at Golfsmith to scratch the itch when it's 20° with two feet of snow on the ground all winter.

We have a pretty long off-season in Northern Maine, usually my last round is late October and I won't be on a course again until early May at best. Normally it takes me 2-3 weeks of steady playing to shake off the rust which includes a lot of range time. I do a ton of putting practice through the winter so I am usually in good shape in that area which is nice, lets me focus on my swing.

Last year we picked up an Optishot and we used that 1-3 times per week for most of the winter. When the season started I came out shooting almost my normal scores so just swinging over the winter made a huge difference for me. I'm doing the same thing this year.

I've had almost a 2 week hiatus from golf, and after less than 3 full rounds it appears to be coming back to something that resembles golf.

For me, I think the number of rounds it takes increases each year as I get older.
