Is a forgiving driver more forgiving than a forgiving 3 wood off the tee if you are more interested in forgiveness than distance?

So I snipped a half inch off the SL290 and put a longer VDR grip on so I can choke down further and it has made a difference in control. They said it was ok to trim a half inch off the butt, add a little grip tape and go from there. Seems to work better and havent hit any sprayers yet.

Nice that it worked. Keep us posted on further results too!

I have to say im not a huge fan of my 3 wood, its not great so ive dropped it from my bag seeing as im better with my 5w. I have recently got the knack of hitting driver nad i have to say it feels great!!

Normally hit a 10.5 degree Ping G5 and its a nice old driver, however the other week i grabbed my first driver which is a John Letters Trilogy 15deg 460cc driver and for the first time in my life i was able to use the phrase "i bombed it".

Obviously it must have worked due to a) my new swing working , b) loft of a 3w and c) big head.

Im now stuck as to what to put in the bag the G5 or a Younger, but non brand driver.........ego vs results?
