Instead of starting a thread where everyone just yells out what kind of ball they use, I was wondering if there were any suggestions about what the best ball for the money is. My HC is around 13, and my driver swing speed is between 108 and 112. I want a ball that's gonna give decent distance off the tee, but more importantly stick on greens. I have a fairly steep swing, and launch the ball extremely high, so something that will help with the ballooning is also an big plus. The main thing is I don't want to spend more than $30 a dozen. I was looking at the HX Tour 56, but even on eBay they're $35 once you factor in shipping. Anything else out there that gets the same results for less money?

I just bought 2 dozen TP Black, they were on sale for 24.99 per at Pro Golf Discount. They seem to be a great ball for this sale price, I believe they are considered a premium ball and play similiar to a V1x. I don't know if TM is coming out with new '08 balls, but I may even go buy another box or two at these prices.

Btw, I see you play the AD333, this is my gamer if I have to pay retail as I find it a great all around ball.

Agreed on the AD333. This was the first "good" ball I ever played, and will still buy a sleeve or two if I'm low before a round. I love the ZUR-s, but wonder if there's anything better out there that I need to try.

I was going the suggest the same ball. If you can get them for that price definitly give them a try. They play very similar to the V1X, some say longer.

I like the OLD Prov1x which you might be able to stock up on for a slightly discounted rate.

taylor made black - bought a rake of them online (slightly used which doesn' bother me, a ball is scratched to pieces after one round, new or not) - worked out at less than 2 euro a piece (about 2 dollars 80) - which is around half price of the retail price here.

The balls are perfect - I will be using this seller again. PM me for details if interested!

I play with Pro-v1's

I get them for 9.99 a dozen.. We have a place here that has contracts with ALL the lakes in S.Florida, they dive them once a week, so that means the balls I get will be either 1 day in the water or 7 days.

They let me go into the back and pick them out of HUGE barrels, They are pretty much BRAND NEW!! I always pick the ones out with no scuff marks.

I used to be so against the idea of getting a good ball, because my game isn't good enough to tell, and I kind of still agree with that, but for 10 bucks a dozen I cannot go wrong.

I heard the BSe6's are great and compared to the pro-v1's

You need to try some out and see which you like.

The way I play, the only place I feel a major difference is on the green.

For that price you should look into reselling them on ebay. I think they fetch more then twice that for used balls there.

Yea that's true.. I get them at a discount price, but who knows, I am sure I could go in there once a month and buy 100 of them

typically play with srixon soft (green box) and been playing with maxfli noodle long & soft in the past...callaway hx (only because i was at a golfing resort and balls came for free..okay...i got greedy and stuffed my bag with them)



cheapest i've found ...a co-workers was going out to play for the first time in his life...after only 4 lessons, and 2 or 3 weeks at the driving range...i recommended that he get cougar x-cat titanium distance golf balls...18 balls for $6.39..on sale at target last time i checked (last week)....he lost about 2/3 of the box....

I had been playing with various inexpensive Top Flite and Callaway balls, but someone gave my a dozen of the TP Black Taylor Made's and I was surprised even at my skill level that I could feel / see the difference, particularly in putting. Whoever used the chipping green before me last Saturday left 8 new Pro1Vx balls behind, so I guess I'll be trying those out now too. I'm trying to save my money for rounds and lessons rather than splurging on equipment until I'm a better player, so I won't be purchasing any balls for a long time now.

only play proV1 or proV1x's... might just be a confidence issue or something.
