Jim Furyk's Struggles to Close Out Tournaments

No real opinion on this discussion other than ... is there really a such thing as a weak field on the PGA tour these days?  Other than, perhaps, the Puerto Rico type events that occur simultaneously to the WGCs.

I think so. I might be misinterpreting the OWGR system, but here you go, these are the point totals Walker received in his wins:

Frys: 28 OWGR points

Sony 2014: 42

ATT: 44

Sony 2015: 46

Valero: 52

I think the point values change depending on strength of field and class of tournament (regular, WGC, major), but I'm not at all sure about that. But I think they do. So you can see winning the Fry's doesn't give you as many points because the field was weak. Credit to Walker, he's been winning in progressively better fields. By comparison, Furyk got 100 points for his US Open and 50 for his US Open runner up.

As far as I can tell, after the last 5 events or so, the OWGR system starts progressively devaluing points as it goes farther back in time. But the totals above represent the unadjusted totals, before the weight devaluation.
