I really prefer a full 14-way top or similar. Currently, I have a BagBoy NXO Stand bag with their "Grip-Lok" top, which is a 14-way divider where each club has a rubber grommet with "fingers" that it fits through. It holds all my clubs VERY snugly, no chatter or anything, and I LOVE that fact. However, I'd really like to get something lighter. In fact, I really want to find the lightest bag there is, but stop just short of a simple "quiver"-style sub-14-club style.

I would really prefer a Cleveland bag, since I play their equipment almost exclusively, but have never seen much more than plain stuff from them. Anyone have experience? I'm browsing websites like crazy, but when I find something that looks decent, it seems like reviews can always be mixed (or worse, as people seem to like to complain in such a forum), so I was hoping to get some more impartial opinions here. Thanks.

That's a cool-looking bag, but 7 lbs is NOT light. The Sun Mountain below is only 5 lbs. and there are a few bags in the <4 lb. range. I know it doesn't seem like much, but that's a big difference. I've been trying like heck to find out what the stock stated weight of my current bag is, but it's discontinued, so I can't find it.

I got this one

That's nice-looking, too. One of my dilemmas is, I'm not sure I actually WANT a lot of pockets. That will just encourage me to pack too much crap in it! I want just enough to be efficient. This looks like it may fit that category.

I too carry with an Ogio Vapourlite bag. I was on the hunt for the same type of bag at the beginning of the summer. This bag was the best one I found. I really notice the weight, or lack there of, when I take out all the unnecessary junk that accumulates throughout a golf season.

I just purchased this bag about a week ago. Absolutely love it. 14 club divider is great for organization. Pockets galore for everything and everything. From personal items, to cooler area for a drink, waterproof pocket, etc. What sets this bag apart from most is the ball sleeve and tee holder. Very functional for the course. Its very light, even with 14 clubs and the straps are comfortable. The looks are nice too.

Most of the mini-tour players on the circuit and serious amateur players are either carrying Ping Hoofers or the Titleist carry-stand bags. These are guys that carry their bags for a living, mind you.

Doesn't matter what brand of equipment they have in their bag..

I understand your equipment loyality though and concerns for light weight.

Just my .02

Oh, and to add...

I've seen Sun Mountain be a popular brand choice, too. And from what I've heard, SM is behind the Titleist carry-stand bags. Somebody please correct me if I'm misinformed...

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
