I have always enjoyed walking. Always feel much more connected to the round, feel like i can learn the course better etc. However, of late some lower back nerve problems have really slowed me down. Shoulders would be pretty tired after a round also. After reading some reviews i bit the bullet and bought a clicgear 3.5+ as a reference this is my first cart of any kind. Honestly, after 3 rounds i wish i hqd done this years ago. Its basically effortless to push. The handle is very adjustable to be able to find the right height for your pushing comfort. It folds down very small and is pretty easy to fold and unfold. It comes with a umbrella holder which i hope to not use often. And a drink holder which fits the smaller gatorade or water bottles fine. It sits on the side and swings freely. I had my coffee in it this morning in a travel mug no problem. Nice little netting big enough for water, snacks, rangefinder or whatever. Nice side opening magnetic compartment big enough for keys, wallet, balls cigars...tee holders on the handle and nice little slots for pencil and scorecard. Pretty much everything at your finger tips. I have a sun mountain 3.5 carry bag. Reading other online reports i expected this to be a p4oblem getting the bag to sit straight on the cart and not rotate around. It took me a couple of minutes the first time i put it on to get the straps adjusted properly. And now no problems. My bag has never slid or moved around. I have the straps just barely snug but not tight and no issues. I would agree that its not ideal but its not a problem either. The clubs slide in and out easily. The handle is not in the way of pulling wedges for myself. Bag chatter is minimal while walking. The brake system is easy and works great. I have had it parked on a couple fairly steep slopes with no issues. The whole setup is incredibly stable and easy. Really handy....and easy.... In case you cant tell i am completly impressed. I had fairly high expectations and thus far it has surpassed them. I would highly recommend anyone that walks regularly to get one. Honestly the best couple hundred bucks ive spent in years on golf.

You made a good choice. I have one of the original Clicgears. Mine came with pneumatic (air) tires on it. The thing is a tank, and as far as I can tell it's indestructible. Yeah, I have had to air up the tires a few times over the years, but it's worth it. I have even greased the axles a few time also.

They are effortless to push, and when I let mine roll down hill on it's own, it tracks very well too.

I was at a 2nd hand store a couple of months ago, and found a well used one for $20. I grab it up just to have it. I will have to make a trip to a bicycle shop, or Harbor Freight to replace the worn out sponge rubber tires that came with it. Maybe a little sanding, and a new paint job might be in order too. I am always looking for something to tinker with.

Congrats.

In My Bag:

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
