Now, i know that this is a big problem in most 'beginners' games however mine varies. I only get slice off my Driver for starters.

Now, when teeing off, it has got to the point where i allow for my slice to pull the ball back onto the fairway as i simply dont know what else to do. If i slow down my swing, it lessens but i lose about 20 or 30 yards in the process.

I was just wondering whether there were anymore tips out there which i could try since i have tried practically everything in the book.

Cheers.

A lot

I have mainly tried David Leadbetter's drills to try and counter it along with a few old books which have been passed down to me.
You name something and i'll be sure to let you know whether it worked/works

PM your email address. I will send you an article called "Never Slice Again" by Brian Manzella. If you do what he says, you will never slice again!

Whenever someone is having an issue with one club but not all the others it's usually because the shaft is a completely different flex.

Equipment, Setup, Finish, Balance, and Relax. All equal in importance and all dependent on each other. They are the cornerstones of a good golf swing.

I used to have the same problem, slice my driver, hit irons straight, bought a stiff flex shaft for my driver... problem solved. Id suggest going and seeing a club pro and getting your swing speed measured and find out if your shaft is right for you.

Yeah that was my next step actually. Not necessarily changing my shaft but even getting a decent, Taylor-Made set of clubs. The clubs i have now were really just to see whether i liked the game and to see how long the hobby would last...

Since there is more than one reason why you might be slicing the ball I think it would be a good idea to figure out if you are swinging outside-in or if it is a problem with your release (or is there something else?).

I started golf this spring and for the first few months was slicing the ball with my driver like there was no tomorrow. I gradually got rid of the slice and it hasn't been a problem for me in the last couple of months. For me the key was to concentrate on rotating my body and working on my release. I really have to actively concentrate on rotation (trying to get the left shoulder behind the ball) during the backswing when I'm driving. One thing that helped me in this department is lifting my chin a bit to have more room for the shoulder turn.

As far as release goes I think that is something that takes some time to work out. I don't tend to get good results if I try to actively concentrate on release when I swing but it does help if I concentrate on it during my practice swings.

Just my 2c, hope you are able to work it out. For an ex-slicer straight drives are one of the most rewarding things in golf :)

I have the same problem. Slice my driver (reg shaft) and hit my irons straight (stiff shaft). I think that this problem might have been answered already in this thread though

I was thinking of getting either the Nike Sasquatch Sumo or Ignite as you have there..How does that perform for you?

I have the same problem......on my Iron shots its and easy fix, slow down the swing, and club up about 1-2 clubs depending on the shot. Off the tee I started using a strong right hand grip. It's reducing my slice occurrence and severity, but not curing it completely....Something to think about.

I had the EXACT problem too - driver=slice, irons=straight...since I got the SasQuatch (non-square version) my drives rarely slice...they 'power-fade' :) Just be sure to get the right shaft for your swing speed, etc...u know the fitting drill

Fair enough. Thank you for the input. It will give me something to consider.

As for Rynofskie...That works me we as well. At times i slow down my swing throughout my bag just to get the technique completely right and then begin to work my way up. It usually works on my driver with about 70% power i can hit a reasonably straight ball. It is really just trial and error i believe...

Perhaps if i take a few different flex's of the SasQuatch driver down to the range and hit a few balls that could lead me to a decision. It cant hurt, im dieing for a new driver anyway.

What shaft did you get on your Sasquatch?

Since my swing speed is only 90 mph, they guy at golfsmith suggested a regular flex shaft which is what i had on my previous driver. Basically just got the stock shaft (Diamana)

I'm surprised that a stiff shaft wasn't recommended. I assume for swing speeds below 90MPH, a stiffer shaft would be better.

exact opposite. If you don't swing fast enough to flex the shaft properly then you'll feel like your swinging a 2x4 and the shaft won't release into the impact zone. You might was well be swinging a long wooden spoon with a titanium spatula attached to the end. :)

Swing = Stacked and On Plane when possible.

Hahaha. That was an interesting picture in my head. So, for slower swing speeds, a "flexier" shaft would be recommended.
