Okay long story short, I'm an idiot. My living room has more than enough space for me to swing clubs, and I have been practicing swings ocassionally all winter. I was doing just that the other day, and my grip on my mini driver came off through my downswing. The club flew up and made a club head sized hole in my ceiling. I got the grip replaced fine, and there is no visible damage to the club. Needless to say, my wife was right and I wont be swinging clubs in the house again lol. I got to thinking today, and was wondering if anyone can tell me, if there is any chance that there could be any invisible damage to the club. I'm heading to play on simulators this weekend and I wouldnt want my clubhead to suddenly fly off and damage something. It was a pretty solid hit straight from the bottom of the clubhead. Should I be worried, or am I being too paranoid.

I have never heard of a grip coming off during a swing. Was it the stock grip? Or did you install something yourself?

To answer your question, I would say check for a rattle in the head and to see if there is any separation/cracks around the ferrule. Other than that you'll have to hit a few balls and find out.

Yeah it was a golf pride grip that I put on a while ago. It was the first time I tried it, and I obviously didnt do something right. Got an experienced person to replace it properly. I have looked at it over and over, and it looks no different than it did before. Maybe I will take it to my parents farm tomorrow, and hit a bunch of shots to test it out before I trust it on the simulators again. Definitely not my smoothest moment. At least the hole will be relatively easy to fix.

I'd like to see pictures of the hole. It should sufficiently scar others so that they can learn from your booboo. :-D

Well, it might give them a bit of a scare but I wouldn't go that far!

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Yeah. I've taken out low flying ceiling fans and divots out of carpet with indoor practice swings. Never stopped me from practicing swings indoors :-)
