I currently use Wilson Staff Di9 irons with 99g Unflex fatshats and as my swing has got better i seem to be struggling to hit them as well as i used to with more thinned shots cropping up.

According to the tech bumf they are supposed to be between stiff and regular but im not sure as ive heard that some people find them too "whippy" and others too stiff.

I like the irons a lot and cant afford to shell out on a new set so wondering a) if the shafts could be effecting my contact and b) if there is anyting i can do in order to make them work?

I have a set of Titleist 695mb's that were given to me so im going to hit the range with these, the Staffs and a Mizuno MX-950 6 iron to check the difference.

Thanks in advance

First question is whether they are graphite or steel.  But regardless, I'd say Wilson uniflex is like most other OEMs plain "stiff" rated shafts.  Usually the flex (uni vs stiff) isn't going to cause contact issues but the weight might.  However, almost everybody's irons comes with ~100 gram shafts these days.

Maybe try standing closer to the ball to cure the thins?

Uniflex shafts fall between regular and stiff flex. These were popular on the Callaway X18, X20 and X22 irons. The idea was that a majority of male golfers could probably hit the Uniflex shaft OK. Pegged toward casual golfers.

The drawback: it wasn't an optimum shaft for very many people. Club designer Ralph Maltby does not care much for Uniflex.

If you buy a set of legacy irons, such as RazrX NG, Nike VR_S X of reloaded TM Burner 2.0. you get Uniflex shafts. Legacy: see below...

Uniflex also comes as stock shaft on several current models of SGI irons.
