Hey guys, for some reason lately, I've been taking huge diviots. My diviots are after the ball, and I feel like I'm compressing and making good ball contact, but I have the feeling that my swing is being slowed down and I can't fully follow through with the big diviots. Any help?

What is the ball flight you are seeing?

Are you swinging steeper than before?

My ball flight would be medium to high. And I changed my swing about 6 months ago and added a lot more wrist hinge.

Cool.. So is it going from left to right "fading" or is it going from right to left "drawing"? Other terms could be slicing or hooking?

Usually a straight ball flight, but if it's going to have movement, naturally it's a fade for me.

Since you say your club is slowing down through contact, it sounds like the divots are deep. This means that you've lowered your "low point" in your swing, probably by either by steepening your downswing path or by dropping your head too much (or both). I would check both those on video.

I went through the digging stage as well. For me, it was my backswing. If I picked my club head up too soon in my backswing, I would start my downswing super steep. I started working on the "low and slow" backswing. It helped flatten out my downswing.

Review how much forward shaft lean you put in your swing, assuming that you do.

My friend overdoes his in hopes of creating spin. Big divots and fat shots (this isn't exactly what you describe, but the resulting divots are similar).

I'm going through that right now. The low and slow seems to work well. Going to have to work more on this when I get back to hitting balls.

Your solution seems like a good one, thanks.
