I needed a new shaft really bad, I think the stock shafts on these hibore XL's suck!!! I love the way they hit and know all I needed was a nice new shaft. I wanted to get the V2, but after being on a machine and hitting about 40 balls, they sized me up and put me with the 65-S, green shaft.

I gained about 40 yards average with just the shaft upgrade, my height went down significantly, before it would sky rocket and go about 170-180 yards, SAD I KNOW!! Now I am back to about 230-235 yards, dead straight every time.. With a 100mph swing speed.. I obviously still need help hitting it, but its a start.

Anyone else have this shaft? Thoughts? Comments?

Not a big fan of the 65g version of the NV, personally. Doesn't suit my swing I guess. I can feel it torque, but not really flex. The 55g version of the NV or the 65g version of the NVS work better for me. I prefer a more mid launch shaft, which is what I have in there now. Good choice on the head, but I'm a little biased. $85 installed for the NV isn't great, but not really bad either. The shaft will cost you about $90 at most major retailers, plus another $17-20 labor, so $85 isn't terrible. Plenty of people love the NV, just depends on your swing. I switched out the stock gold shaft for a shaft that was laying around that had been pulled from an older Cobra F-Speed driver and it has been working better for me. Feels more solid at impact. Obviously not the greatest shaft out there, but it fits me well.

I bought a Calloway right off the rack with this shaft after hitting my friend's on the range for 10 minutes. I have never hit the ball better. Before I tried it I made sure that I was getting the right shaft for my swing speed.

I think that 85 installed is decent. You got a brand new shaft, not a pulled one on EBAY, so you know it is good and installed to spec.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
