My home course sponsored a Demo Day with Nike reps today.

Nike set up on our range with a fine selection of demo clubs and a FlightScope, a couple of reps and one of our pros. Seemed a good chance for all interested to give Nike's offerings a shot and get accurate numbers to compare with their current bag.

Trouble is, though the range was full, not many took the time to visit the Demo tent. Must have been a disappointing day for the Nike folks.

My take is that times are tough for OEMs, with lots of folks unable to justify new equipment (I am pretty content with my current bag, and did not care to waste Nike's time, but would have visited W/S just to try FG 100s).

Any opinions on the low turnout?

Hard to say much about this situation in particular. We all know people aren't buying clubs quite like they used to but it seems a bit strange people wouldn't demo just for sake of demoing. I personally would hit a few just to see some numbers. My guess would be the folks at the range were afraid the salespeople would be too pushy and it wasn't worth the hassle. Plus, Nike really doesn't have a lot of fanboys, especially since the decline of Tiger you're just not coming across many swooshes in the bags. If it were a Callaway demo day I'd be more surprised.

Nike is getting more and more clubs out to their reps. The tour van crew said they get more clubs and components each week, shipped to motels they're visiting.

Last week, the tour van did not have any of the new Encore wedges.
