So just seeing this thread for the 1st time and obviously a few things about the golf world have changed since the 2015.

So how would the rule change from 2019 for lost ball/ob work in these situations? I know the rule wasnt meant to be applied for serious tournaments but was allowed for less serious rounds. In the first situation the person could decide not to go back to the teebox either for pace of play or laziness but drop into the fairway at the crossing point, lying 4.

Its also important to note that even if the Local Rule isn't in effect, yet you utilize the Local Rule, you may still post the score.

Where a player follows the provisions set down in a Model Local Rule, even when the Committee in charge of the course has not adopted that Model Local Rule, the score may still be acceptable for handicap purposes. The same situation applies where a player is in breach of a Model Local Rule that has been adopted by the Committee.
