I have been doing this for about three weeks now, five to seven minutes, three times a week, mixed with treadmill time and I have added 25 yards to my drive. No swing changes that I am aware of. I have specifically avoided swing changes for a month or more now.

Here is an example of one, but I am doing really basic stuff myself.

I am 58, and have worked a sedentary job my whole life, so I was not in great shape to start with, but I can see the difference in the number of reps I can easily do, and the weight I can handle in just that short time. I am just using the 5, 10, and 15 lb kettlebells, so we are not talking "pumping iron" style workouts.

Tonight I easily carried a clump of trees on a dogleg right par four that I used to lose balls in constantly, ended up 60 yards from the pin. This is the second time I have carried those trees in two rounds. I overdrove a par three on club less than it used to take me to reach it. I used to use a five hybrid. I went 10 yds past the green with a six iron. Next time I will use a seven. Unbelievable for me.

I think that the increased strength not only gives you more swing speed, but gives you better command of the club. The kettlebells increase your wrist and grip strength, plus strengthen your arms and core.

Just saying that if you are struggling with distance, a little bit of weight training goes a long way.

Nice!

Although I have not experienced those kind of distance gains, kettlebells have worked great for me to lose weight, keep it off and get stronger.

Good job, @Moppy. 25 yards is a huge gain.  I probably gained 10 yards after starting on golf specific workout.

I think maybe part of it is that I started from a really low baseline. My best drives rarely went over 200 yds. and lots of poorly hit ones barely went 160, I also did add in a new swing thought: "Back to the target, chest to the target" which I think added distance by itself. So I guess I did make a swing change.

I just wanted to share for other short knockers out there that maybe it's not a life sentence. A month ago I was seriously considering moving to the gold tees. Now I am eyeing the blue ones.

This is a great thread, I'm glad you made a separate thread for it. It's inspiring to say the least.
