Ok, you found me out! :-O.

I think that when many of us High handicappers get something positive out of internet clips its often down to pot luck. I gave up on all that and asked for help from a low hcp family member. the changes suggested worked, but as stated in another thread were similar to another swing "method".

Golfers can learn by themselves but god its hard!

I'm totally self taught & never found it hard to find good internet instruction.    Key for me is to go to a reputable source - when I started playing 5 years ago, stack & tilt was the rage - I watched and more importantly studied all those video's and read the book.    It gave me a solid foundation.   Today, from what I see on this forum, the 5 keys video's have alot of the same concepts, and is probably even better.     I wouldn't mess around with all the thousands of "other" instructional videos out there on youtube - just go where there are solid recommendations from knowledgeable players on forums like this, thus you'll KNOW the information is going to be reputable.

There's a good amount of overthinking going on here. A couple range sessions to establish grip, posture, and alignment. Then, choose a nice little 9 hole dogpatch and start playing! There, that was easy.

I'd recommend keeping it simple, fun and learn by doing. I think as we get older we tend to want to be perfect and complicate things that shouldn't be.

I taught myself to play in my early teenage years by hitting short irons around the yard and made fun games like closest to the target contests between my cousin and I. We even had two short "holes" setup and played those as par 3's only using short irons. Silly looking back on it but it sure was fun.

Add in watching some live golf on tv (or nowadays YouTube videos) and over time I got a good swing down. I think if I hadn't gone the fun route and instead made it something to study, I would have never kept playing.
